MIL-DTL-2/71A
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Mark the valve body: H.P., TOXIC AND OXIDIZING MIXT.
2. When the cylinder service pressure is specified, the appropriate rupture PRD
(type 1) shall be supplied.
3. When the cylinder service pressure is not specified, a combination PRD (type 5) shall
be supplied with a rupture disk with a burst range between 2700 and 3000 psig. This device
shall be utilized only for cylinders of 1800 to 2400 psig rating.
OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Outlet cap or plug (required) (not required).
2. PRD (required) (not required).
INTENDED USE: The valves covered by this specification sheet are intended for use with
cylinders containing high pressure, toxic and oxidizing mixtures. If the LC50 of the mixture is
equal to or less than 200 ppm, a PRD is prohibited. If the LC50 is greater than 200 ppm and
contains a hazard zone A component, then no PRD is required; but if a PRD is used, it shall be
a type 4.
NOTES:
1. Type designation will include any style valve from table I.
2. Special requirements will be mandatory for all valve procurements.
